DIY: Dreamy Bridal Bouquet

Mmmmm . . . LOVE this colorful bridal bouquet! And the best part is, it's a DIY!  Flowers, to me, are one of the most important parts of a wedding celebration, but who says they have to be the most expensive?  Why not save yourself a whole lot of money and DIY?  Check out this great tutorial on etsy that comes from Craftzine staff writer, Brookelynn Morris, on how to create your own spectacular bridal bouquet!

Recipe Find: Blueberry Scones

Mmmm. Blueberry scones. Yum.  Made these this morning. Followed the Martha Stewart recipe.  So easy!  I cut the sugar in half; I think July blueberries are sweet enough and I prefer a scone that's not too sweet.  These would be great served at a bridal shower brunch, luncheon or tea.  Maybe serve a few different kinds with flavored cream cheese or creamy flavored butters.  This recipe is a keeper!

Etsy Find: Custom Cake Topper

Yes, I'm still keeping an eye out for cute and classy cake toppers!  Not a huge fan unless it's something special like this one I found on etsy for $145.  A little pricey but a keepsake treasure worth splurging on!  And it can be customized to match the Bride and Groom-hair color, flowers, veil etc. Tres bien!

Wedding Orchids

I've never been big on cascading bridal bouquets but kinda love this one done in creamy white orchids!  Tres chic! Especially the orchid tucked into the birdcage veil!  (Love those veils!  Need to do a post on them!) And such a pretty color combo for a bridesmaid bouquet pairing the same creamy white with a golden yellow!  Love it against the pewter dresses!  For more of this wedding, go to The Brides Cafe.

Starfish Topper Takes the Cake!

Found this pic online from a local Cape Ann wedding and just had to share!  Love love love the bride and groom starfish atop the cake!   I searched and searched for a similar image on the internet when I was planning my daughter's wedding to no avail. I didn't want it for a cake topper--but maybe just a whimsical addition to the bride/groom table or near the guest book.  But I really adore this cake--the simplicity of it's design in all white says wedding and allows the starfish on top to be a focal point.  Elegant, fun and beachy!

Blog Your Wedding!

Keeping a wedding blog is a great way to keep guests and family informed on an upcoming wedding!  You can provide directions, maps and a list of suggested accommodations for those guests arriving from out of town and even provide links to hotels, inns, and even your guest registry.  Guests can RSVP on line, sign a guest book, send you a private message and even view photos of you and your fiance.  There really is no limit to what you can do with a wedding blog or web page!  One couple even set up a page just for photos to be downloaded by attending guests after the wedding! A fabulous idea!

If you don't feel crafty enough or internet savy enough, why not try a service like Nearlyweds that takes all the thinking out of it?  For $14.99 a month (or $99. a year) you can set up a full-featured wed-site that can even be coordinated to match your invitations!  It includes features like a Bridal Party page, a Travels page, links to bridal registries and even allows you to keep track of your guest list and events surrounding the wedding!  And there is no limit to the amount of pages, pictures, video or music you can add!

Shop around!  Some sites, like the knot and ewedding, offer FREE limited services that may be enough for your needs.  Here are some other wedding web site services worth checking out:,, and

Summer Centerpieces!

Love this idea of using French flower buckets for vases!  Wouldn't these make great centerpieces for an outdoor wedding reception? Or maybe for any eco-wedding!  I found them online at Wholesale Flowers & Supplies starting at $3.65 each!  Imagine them filled with big blue hydrangeas!  Gorgeous!

Shabby Chic Signs!

A new find! Just discovered this wonderful etsy shop called The Back Porch Shoppe! They make all wooden hand-painted signs for your wedding and they will even personalize!  Even if you can't afford to buy them all, perhaps they'll inspire you to make a few of your own like I did!  Of course mine looked quite primitive compared to these beautiful signs!  Not only a great addition to any reception decor, but they also make lovely keepsakes to treasure for years into your marriage!
All the signs shown here can be purchased from The Back Porch Shoppe on and range in price between $20. and $60. But there are over 200 designs to choose from so check it out!  This shop is now listed under my etsy favorites!

New. Red. White. Blue. Wedding.

Found this cool red, white and blue wedding inspiration board on blogger brides. What a like is the fresh take on red, white and blue by turning the patriotic blue to turquoise!  AND, you don't need to have a Fourth of July wedding--you could really use these colors any time in the summer!  But what fun to add stars and stripes into the theme if it is a Fourth wedding! And maybe some balloons!

Birds of a Feather

Love this cake topper I found on etsy at stjudescreation shop.  I am still smitten on the bird theme for weddings and even baby showers--just in love with the whole eco/green/nature theme--and birds have a certain charm about them I think.  Generally, I don't think much of cake toppers and the trend leans towards doing without. Having said that, I'm on a mission to find cake toppers that make the exception!

Ha! Bet you thought I was done with wedding stuff!

Baby Belly Pix

This is Bethany at 38 weeks!  Jennifer took pix of her and Bob and the belly last Saturday (on a really beautiful afternoon) in Marblehead.  She had some beautiful naked belly shots but I didn't think Bethany would appreciate me posting them for the world to see (even tho they are very tasteful and amazing!)so I chose a more discrete photo of Beth and her beautiful belly to post for you.

She and Bob have been photo-journaling her pregnancy all along by taking their own belly photos every week, but it really is a nice thing to have someone photograph you as a couple when the due date is approaching.  Jenni took over 100 photos-many of Beth and Bob together, belly covered and uncovered, and some of Bethany alone.  They really are beautiful and I would recommend it to anyone!  Jenni got many of her ideas for poses from the internet-try

So, Bethany will be 39 weeks on Monday!  Woo hoo! I could be a grandma again any day now! I'll keep you posted!
